Thunderstorms are also possible on Friday.
Slightly cooler temperatures are forecast for much of northern New England.
Much of the nation has been baking in record-setting heat.
More than 250 record-high temperatures were recorded around the country on Tuesday, adding to the more than one-thousand records that were eclipsed in the previous week.
