RUMFORD — Some Mountain Valley High School students will soon be sporting new T-shirts. Over the last year, the school’s intermural program has offered several activities and awards. One of the awards is a falcon T-shirt for intermural winners.
In badminton, Chrissy Briggs and Jamaica Ford won the girl’s double title. Briggs was the top girls’ single. Kyle Gauvin and Joe Provencher were the best on the boys’ side with Alex Durfee walking away with the singles prize. More than 40 students took part in the tournament.
The Christmas cribbage challenge went to Principal Matt Gilbert. The game was contested by runner up Debbie Buotte. Students and staff members participated in the challenge.
Once again, Kyle Gauvin dominated in the ping pong tournament.
The floor hockey tournament went to the juniors. Scott Nicols captained “Scotty’s Hotties” to the victory.
The one of two teams of juniors won the volleyball tournament. Captain Austin Glover rallied the J-Braves to victory.
An informal disk golf competition developed during finals week. That may become a regular event next year.
A mountain bike competition will be the first intermural event in the fall.
- Just before graduation, Kyle Gauvin received a prototype of the new intermural T-shirt. Intermural coordinator Todd Papianou said, “In the world of ping pong, we have 30 top flight players, some from every class in the school. The winner was Kyle Gauvin.”
