MEXICO — Grand View Apartments, a senior living facility on Backkingdom Road, is smoke free as of Sunday, July 1.
The decision was made after an expensive turnover of an apartment that had been occupied by a smoking tenant, according to Agent Manager Anne Young. The change was made with the assistance of the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, which provided resources and materials for the senior living center’s board of directors to enact a smoke-free policy.
Grand View Apartments joins dozens of other apartment buildings and public housing facilities in Maine that are now smoke free.
Landlords and property owners are encouraged to contact the RVHCC for information on smoke free living. For more information, contact Young at the Mexico Town office, 364-7971, mexicoseniorhousing@gmail.com, or Sandra Witas at RVHCC, 364-7408, or http://www.rvhcc.org/
