LEWISTON — A Lisbon woman drove into the back of a van parked at Thorne’s Corner Auto & Truck Repair on Sabattus Street just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and pushed the van into the garage.

Georgette Croteau, 82, was trapped in her 2001 Honda Accord for a short time until Lewiston firefighters could extricate her from the car. She did not appear to be seriously injured, but she was taken to the hospital for observation.

A couple of employees were in the building when the van crashed in, but no one was injured.

“We don’t know (what happened),” owner Michael Dube said. “We were in the garage working; next thing we know she slams into the garage. Supposedly, she was turning around.”

The garage was damaged, as were the woman’s car and the 1986 Toyota van, which is owned by Dube. No firm estimate of the damage was available Tuesday, but Dube said repairs could cost $15,000 to $20,000. He is insured.
