GRAY — Weather forecasters were monitoring a rainstorm passing through Central Maine Wednesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service declared a flash flood warning in the northwestern part of the state, including western Franklin County, western Oxford County and parts of New Hampshire.
The warning said the storm had the potential to drop three to four inches of rain per hour. Meteorologist Bob Marine said the Weather Service’s office in Gray had received no reports as of 5:45 p.m., however.
Marine said forecasters expect the storm to continue southeast, into Cumberland County and parts of Androscoggin County before leaving the area, weakening along the way. The flash flood warning is scheduled to expire by 8:15 p.m.
“There really is nothing behind it, just a couple of thunderstorms that are part of the same system,” he said. “The bulk of it should be be gone.”
