Parish Thrift Shop open for summer
JAY — Parish Thrift Shop, Bartlett Memorial United Methodist Church, North Jay, is open for the summer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Available items include lightly used clothes, household items, dishes, books, toys, baby clothes and some furniture. Good parking.

Dance showcase July 11
PARIS — Art Moves Around will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, in Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Auditorium.
The Variant Dance Showcase will feature dancers from The Ballroom in Harrison, Art Moves Dance Studio in Norway, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and guests. The showcase is free to the public, although donations are always welcome.
The event is part of the PEP Grant, a collaboration between SAD 17 and Healthy Oxford Hills to increase health and activity in the area. There will be opportunity for the audience to get up and dance. For more information, call 743-5569.
Seafood dinner for scholarship
RUMFORD — A Seafood Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the American Legion Post 24 on Congress Street.
There will be seafood chowder, peel and eat shrimp, corn on the cob and twin Maine lobster. The feast is prepared by Bill Ruff. The cost is $20. Prepay by July 11.
This event is sponsored by Oxford Count Vietnam Veterans Memorial Scholarship Fund Raiser. All money raised will be used to fund this $1,000 yearly scholarship.
Tickets are available at American Legion Post 24, Mexico Town Office, Rumford Town Office, Dick’s Restaurant, Rumford Town Office and Mexico One Stop. Music will be provided by Dan Richards.
Stephens High Class of 1951
RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1951 will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the River Valley Grill.

Program about Dr. Hubbard
WATERFORD — The July meeting of the Waterford Historical Society will feature a program on remembering the long-time Waterford family doctor, Dr. Roswell Hubbard. It will be held Thursday, July 12, at the Wilkins House, next to the Congregational Church in the Flat. There will be a free potluck supper at 6 p.m. Bring a supper item.
People are asked to share memories and funny stories at the meeting, which will happen at 7 p.m. Dr. Hubbard was well-known in the surrounding towns as well.
On Sunday, July 20, the WHS will feature early 20th century area photographs taken by Fred Johnson on display at the Old Town House along with photos by international photographer Fred Stockwell. Copies of the most recent Waterford “Echoes” and a 2013 calendar featuring Johnson photos will be for sale at the meeting.
Knights free public supper
JAY — This month’s free public supper will be held Saturday, July 14, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street.
Doors open at noon and serving is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Menu will include pulled pork sandwiches, fruit salad, macaroni salad, vegetables, strawberry shortcake and drinks. The friend of the supper this month is Hillside Sports Club.

Lobster roll luncheon July 14
NORWAY — A lobster roll luncheon will be held at Second Congregational Church, Main Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, as part of the Norway Arts Festival.
Members will again be taking orders for lunch along the Main Street route and lunches will be delivered around noontime, right to one’s booth. Menu includes clear Maine lobster meat, slice of watermelon, potato chips and dessert for $10. A hot dog meal will also be available for $5.
On Friday, July 20, the church will hold a free supper from 5 to 6 p.m. They will serve hot dog with roll, beans, potato salad and desserts by Bruce.

Summer food, treasure sale
RUMFORD — The Best Summer Food & Treasure Sale by Rumford Center Village Improvement Society will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Historic Meeting House, Route 2, Rumford Center.
There will be a food table, homemade doughnuts, hot dogs and ice cream, nice clothing for $5 a bag and treasures such as furniture, books, toys, clothing, appliances, kitchen and dining ware, jewelry, tools and lots more.
Proceeds go toward improvements of the meeting house, scholarships and more.
Humane Society raffle winners
LEWISTON — Steven Dostie, executive director, has announced the winners of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s Annual Summer Raffle. With more than $6,300 in tickets sales the winners were Lucille Robichaud of Greene, $500 cash; Pam Dunlop of Waterford, $300; Victoria Larson of Windham, $200 and Lorraine Bernstein of Brunswick, $100.
