MINOT — The Minot Historical Society met in June with a presentation of Minot history by the Junior Historical Society. Each member made a square by drawing and coloring on one subject. These cloth squares included how Minot was named, farming, granges, mills and factories, schools, churches, cemeteries, mail deliveries, fire stations and trains.

Also included were William Ladd, Apostle of Peace; Mesannie Wilkins, who traveled across the country by horse; and Crosby Noyes, publisher of the Washington Post, who started out as a local reporter. These individuals each lived in Minot at one time. Donna Berry assembled the squares into a banner.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Town Office. The program will be “Minot Memories in Poetry and Story” by Sally Rowe Joy.
