MONMOUTH — Monmouth Community Players will hold auditions for the New England premiere of “Wyrd Sisters,” a funny parody by Sir Terry Pratchett, on Sunday and Monday, July 22-23.
The show takes place in the craggy kingdom of Lancre, a country deceptively small on a map because most of its geography is near-vertical. It’s on the Discworld, a magical land that floats through space atop four elephants standing on the back of a giant turtle.
The play, adapted by Stephen Briggs, has roles for three witches, a despotic duke and his ambitiously psychopathic duchess, the king’s ghost, a troupe of travelling players, Death Himself, wizards and the Royal Fool, as well as henchmen, handmaidens, soldiers, blacksmiths, dwarves, daughters-in-law and assorted other colorful characters. Mike Clements is director.
Auditions for anyone high-school age and older will be at 4 p.m. on July 22; and at 6:30 p.m. on July 23 in the lower library at Cumston Hall.
Light/sound designers and other production crew members are also being sought. Show dates are Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4. For more information, call Clements at 512-2638.
