GORHAM — Ruth Danforth Davis, 96, of Gorham and formerly of the Auburn Road in Peru, died Sunday, July 8, at the Gorham House.

She was born in West Madison, Aug. 8, 1915, the daughter of Archie and Mabelle (Tibbetts) Danforth and graduated from Skowhegan High School and Farmington Normal School.

Ruth was a school teacher in Rumford for more than 23 years and retired in 1979. Ruth was a member of the Piscataquis Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Maine Teachers Association and the Maine Retirement Association.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Davis and wife, June, of Gorham; grandson, Jeremie Davis and wife, Stacy, of Windham; granddaughter, JoHanna Davis of Wilton; great-grandson, Byron Davis of Windham; two nephews; and a niece.
