LIVERMORE FALLS — A change at Treat Memorial Library is the long awaited Doris Demillo Memorial Garden. Doris was a long-time volunteer and library aide who was taken by cancer at the age of 85 in 2009. Family and friends have made donations to make this garden possible. A bench will be added, and a formal dedication will be held in the future.

Maine DOT recently replaced a maple tree to match the existing mature tree. The previous tree died and was removed in recent years.

The library’s “Open” flag has been moved closer to the front entrance. Due to the planter at the front of the building, there are no longer two flags out front.

The summer reading program, “Vote for Books,” is in full swing. Teens meet on Tuesday evenings at 6  p.m. and the younger participants meet on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Old Fort Western in Augusta has sent passes to give out to participants. All that is needed to receive a pass is for the registered young person to come to the library and tell the librarian about one of the books he/she has read this summer. The pass allows the young person one free admission to Old Fort Western between now and Labor Day.
