WATERFORD — One child was taken to a hospital by helicopter and others were injured Thursday afternoon when a minivan hit a tree on Ben Hale Road.
Maine State Police were investigating the single-vehicle crash in which one child was said to have suffered a severe head wound.
Early reports were that there were four children riding in the vehicle and one adult. LifeFlight Helicopter landed at the Waterford fire station on Valley Road, less than 5 miles from the crash scene.
Ben Hale Road is a narrow paved road near Bear Pond, and is roughly a mile from where routes 35 and 37 split off into Sweden Road near the intersection of Mill Hill Road.
State Police did not provide further details late Thursday night.
