RUMFORD — Approvals will be sought on recommended bids for vehicles at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Board of Selectmen meeting in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
These include a work site utility vehicle and used equipment re-bid, both for the Park and Recreation Department, and a half-ton pickup truck for the Public Works Department.
According to information in the selectmen’s packet, bids for the utility vehicle were received from low bidder R.S. Osgood and Sons of East Dixfield on a Kubota at $9,300; Hammond Tractor of Fairfield on a John Deere at $9,599; and Wallingford Equipment of Auburn on a Kubota at $10,600.
The recommendation is to accept Hammond Tractor’s bid.
In a re-bid effort for two gas Fryolators, a 36-inch gas griddle, Hanna Electric fire hose and pressurized line painter, only one bid was received: $601 from the Roxbury ATV Riders Club. That’s the recommendation selectmen are asked to accept.
The other bid opening, which includes a trade-in, is for a half-ton, four-wheel-drive pickup truck. According to the selectmen’s packet, bids received were $22,165 from Rowe Fordland/Auburn Motor Sales in Auburn; $22,625 from Bessey Motor Sales in South Paris; $21,059.49 from Hight Chevrolet in Farmington; and $19,961 from O’Connor GMC in Augusta. The recommended bid is for O’Connor’s.
Among the other agenda items are board and committee appointments, approval of a liquor license application and special amusement permit for Le Paresseux Club, and a request to authorize starting a credit/debit card payment program in town offices.
At the board’s July 6 meeting, selectmen appointed:
* Sue Milligan as animal control officer.
* Frank DiConzo to the Board of Appeals and agreed to re-advertise the alternate position.
* Dieter Kreckel, Harold MacDonnell and Christopher Carver to the Finance Committee.
* Carolyn Kennard and Jane Shuck to the library Board of Trustees.
* Stephanie Wilson to the Med-Care Ambulance Board.
* James Thibodeau to the Northern Oxford Regional Solid Waste Board.
* Scott Gauvin and Chris Brennick to the Park and Recreation Commission. Selectman Jeremy Volkernick was the lone dissenter.
* John Blais to the Rumford-Mexico Sewerage Board.
* Selectman Jolene Lovejoy to the Rumford Water District Board; Lovejoy abstained from voting.
* Richard Kent as plumbing inspector.
* David Errington as alternate plumbing inspector.
* Mark Tripp as Sealer of Weights and Measures.
Also at that July 6 meeting, selectmen unanimously, but conditionally, approved a temporary extension of the special amusement permit for Le Paresseux Club, based on their submission of a plan of correction to code enforcement officer Kent.
Town Manager Carlo Puiia said the club has been addressing some building code issues.
