PHILLIPS — Phillips resident Pam Matthews has assembled a shop full of locally-made crafts in her recently opened Mountain hardstock shop.

Items include quilts, dolls and toys, works in metal and wood, hand-crafted furniture, wall art, jewelry, stained glass, cards and gifts, and books by local authors.

Mountain Hardstock opened in early June in The Little White Church Antiques and More on Main Street. The old church has been repurposed by Todd and Becky Olson. They offer antiques and Civil War reproduction items in the building.

In mid-July, Matthews opened “Pam’s Fend for Yourself Local Foods Cafe,” providing a gathering place for local residents as well as a watering hole for travelers in the region. The cafe-within-a-store serves tea and coffee, cold drinks, fresh baked goods, and light lunch fare such as wraps and sandwiches.

Matthews states that the emphasis is on local goods, such as cheese and eggs, syrup, honey, pickles, jams and jellies, herb mixes, chocolates and Carrabassett coffee.

The Little White Church Antiques and Mountain Hardstock are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and may be reached by calling 639-2889.
