AUBURN — Lena F. Scanlon, 85, of Otisfield and Hopewell Junction, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, July 24, at the Hospice House.

She was born in Mechanic Falls, March 21, 1927, the daughter of Wilfred and Blanche Davis Duchette. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and had been employed at local shoe shops, Waterfalls Tissue and retired from IBM after 25 years.

She married William Scanlon on July 3, 1948. She was a member of the Columbiettes in New York. She enjoyed gardening and loved children. She was a kind, generous, loving person, her generosity was shown to her family and friends and people she didn’t even know. She was put on this earth to help people.

She is survived by her husband of Otisfield and New York; daughters, Kathy and Bob Lee of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and Patty and Bill Wert of Windsor, Conn.; three brothers, Wilfred Duchette of the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris, Carl Duchette of East Poland and Ramon Duchette of Mechanic Falls; five grandchildren, Heather Blais, Nicholas Wert, Amanda Lee, Rebecca Lee and Jessica Lee; a great-grandson, Liam Blais; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Jerome Scanlon of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by siblings, Pearl Duchette, Helen Perry, Arthur Duchette, Arlene Pryor and Pauline Wilson.
