CARTHAGE — Innovative Scottish/jazz pianist Neil Pearlman and his band, Alba’s Edge, will perform Sunday, July 29, at Skye Theater Performing Arts Center. They will bring Scottish fiddle, Cuban and Brazilian rhythms, funky bass lines and jazz harmony/improvisation to the stage.
Thanks to a grant from Patriot Renewables and a partnership with the Kingfield POPS, Skye Theatre is hosting a new series highlighting emerging artists with Celtic ties. The series features regional, state and international artists who are in the early stages of their development as musicians.
Co-led by Pearlman’s sister Lilly on the fiddle, the band centers around their dynamic musical relationship, a connection fostered while growing up in a family steeped in Scottish music and dance. Rounding out the quartet are Oliver Watkinson on bass and Jacob Cole on the drums.
The band’s sound was described as “a blood pumping delight” on the World Music Central website.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with a jam session slated for 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. Call 562-4445. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2.
