Components of the act, which was recently upheld by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, went into effect Wednesday, Aug. 1. The act includes eight free preventive health services for women, including breastfeeding support and domestic violence screening and counseling. “These changes are long overdue for women and their families,” Dill said. “It’s a law that works for working Americans, one I will fiercely protect from attacks as a U.S. senator.” Dill is seeking the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine. Also in the race is Maine Secretary of State Charlie Summers, a Republican, and former Maine Gov. Angus King, an independent.
