FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to increase the local emergency planning coordinator’s wage by $1 an hour to make it $16, Deputy Clerk Vickie Braley said Wednesday.

Sylvia Yeaton works in the county’s Emergency Management Agency and has gone five years without a raise, Braley said.

The position is paid for through grants.

Commissioners also reviewed a new job description for the deputy director’s position that has been vacant since  Olive Toothaker retired on July 31.

The job will be posted and advertised in newspapers and on the Maine Municipal Association’s website.

The commission also approved contracting with Somerset County for information technology services for computer system software at $75 an hour, Braley said. The past provider had charged $90 an hour, she said.

Commissioners also voted 2-0 to go with Barker & Sons of Farmington to replace some of the bad concrete on part of the sidewalk on the south side of courthouse that faces Main Street.

The price is $2,530, she said.

Commissioner Clyde Barker of Strong abstained from voting because he is related to the owner, Braley said.

Other quotes were from Western Maine Concrete of Wilton for $3,010, and Marco Grimaldi of Jay for $4,350, she said.
