WASHINGTON, D.C. — Thomas A. Potter passed away on July 25, 2012, in a hospital in Washington, D.C., after a long illness.

Born in Worcester, Mass., April 1, 1942, to Helen (Barnes) and Forest Potter, he graduated from ELHS in 1960, then served his country in the U.S. Navy.

After tour of duty in the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau that controlled all military operations, until retirement in 1995. He loved to follow NASCAR around the country and was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. He especially enjoyed traveling to Maine and Florida to visit family.

He will be sadly missed by son, Thomas and wife, Renee and grandsons, Tyler and Tyson Potter of Arlington, Va.; his wife of 15 years, Muriel Potter; sister, Elaine Pinette and brother-in-law, Bruce of Greene; several nieces and nephews; and several stepchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Charlene McAuliffe; and brother-in-law, John.
