FARMINGTON — People tried to sneak into the downstairs of the Municipal Building before 8 a.m. Friday to surprise a special woman. Several had arrived when Town Clerk Leanne Pinkham came down from the Town Office.
It was a going-away party for Pinkham who has served the town for 13 years. She is the new town manager of the town of Bradford near Bangor.
Several boxes of breakfast pizza sat on a table ready to eat.
But before that, Town Manager Richard Davis thanked Pinkham for her years of dedication.
“Food is a funny thing,” Davis said. “We use it to celebrate and we use it to console ourselves.”
Town employees were celebrating a new chapter in Pinkham’s life and consoling themselves over the loss of Pinkham to another town, he said.
“She has been a great town clerk,” he said. “Very knowledgeable, very professional; she has just done great work for the town. Pinkham received a gift-wrapped box with a plaque inside and other gifts.
