AUBURN — A volunteer at a Lewiston gymnastics group was indicted on a felony theft charge, accused of embezzling more than $10,000.
An Androscoggin County grand jury handed up the indictment Wednesday against Lisa Tanguay, 45, of 38 Jeffrey St., Lewiston.
Tanguay volunteered as treasurer at the Andy Valley Gymnastics Association, which has a 6,000-square-foot facility at 74 Westminster St. The organization offers lessons in gymnastics and tumbling to children.
Tanguay, who apparently had a child in the program there, volunteered as treasurer for roughly five years, police said.
She was indicted on a count of Class B theft by unauthorized taking, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
Her arraignment in Androscoggin County Superior Court is scheduled for Aug. 30.
