A crowd estimated at more than 300 persons was on hand at the Cedar Street Playground yesterday for the first annual carnival put on by the youngsters of the playground. The visitors, from 8 to 80, were treated to unusual displays ranging from Indians to fortune tellers, and all varieties of games. They partook of popcorn provided by the hardworking parents, and they got the food, shows and games all for the price of one slightly used bottle cap. The games included darts, shuffleboard, a clothespin-bottle game, basketball foul shooting and various sliding games. A baton twirling exhibition was put on by a group of talented Lincoln Street youngsters.
The fortune teller was Cedar Street’s Cecile Lamontagne. Young Danny Cote, also of Cedar Street, drew large crowds around his “Genie’s Lamp,” with Dan as the genie.
