PHILLIPS — The annual Old Home Days Flower Show, to be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17-18, has “Phillips Memories With Flowers” as its theme.

The show will be open to the public after judging is completed, usually about noon, until 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Library Annex, the former school cafeteria adjacent to the Phillips Public Library on Main Street.

Classes in the adult design division include Runaway Pond/The Pumpkin Freshet, an arrangement of wildflowers and/or fresh garden materials using a pumpkin or squash as the container; Daggett Rock, an arrangement of fresh and/or dried native plants and a rock; Little White Church, a basically white arrangement using wildflowers and/or fresh garden materials with a green cloth background; Two Feet Between the Rails, free choice of materials and container, and an artifact appropriate to the railroad may be used; and Out of the Flames, a free flowing design using flame-colored flowers and/or garden materials in a black container.

There will also be a children’s division and a horticulture division.

All flowers in any arrangement must be native and/or home-grown plantings. Because display space is limited, entries must fit into a 15- by 15-inch space on the display table. Exhibitors may enter one arrangement in any class or classes.

Entries will be accepted from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 16; and 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, Aug 17. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. For more information, call committee members Dorothy Haggan (639-4255), Johanna Roy (639-4540) or Paula Kane (639-3213).
