POLAND — Androscoggin County deputies are searching for three men who may have been involved in a home invasion on Route 26 late Thursday morning.
According to Det. Sgt. William Gagne of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, at 11:38 a.m. on Thursday his department was called to 409 Maine St. in response to a report of a home invasion.
According to Gagne, a resident there said three men had entered his home, tied him up and assaulted him before fleeing.
No weapons were used or displayed, according to Gagne, but the suspects stole money before leaving the residence. The man who was tied up was not injured.
The suspects, according to police, were described as black males wearing dark clothing, gloves, ski masks and backpacks. The three left on foot and were last seen running along Route 122 in Poland.
A search involving a police dog and multiple police officers did not locate the men, but some of the property the suspects dropped was recovered.
According to Gagne, investigators do not believe this was a random act. Anyone who may have seen anything, or who has any information about this incident, is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 753-2599.
