OTISFIELD — Lewis “Joe” Cafiso, 86, of Otisfield died peacefully at home Monday, Aug. 20.
He was born in Chelsea, Mass., on June 3, 1926, son of Joseph and Rose (Tangusso).
Joe was a veteran of World War II and worked for many years for the city of Cambridge, Mass., and raised his family in Arlington, Mass., before enjoying a full and busy retirement with Juanita in their log home in Maine.
Joe enjoyed many hobbies and was happiest on his tractor or standing around a campfire with his many friends telling humorous true stories of the experiences of his life as a son, soldier, father, husband and friend. He will be missed by all who enjoyed his hospitality and engaging personality.
Joes leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Juanita (Mason); and his five children, Mark Cafiso and his wife MaryEllen of Maine, Matthew Cafiso of Colorado, Rosemarie Bernard and her husband Tom, of Tennessee, Tammy Bernard and her husband, Michael, of Massachusetts, and Paul Cafiso and his wife, Sonia, of Arizona. Joe had nine grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren, who enjoyed his “Joe Stories:” Jaqueline Nadeau and her husband, Michael, Christina Cafiso, Giovanni, Archer, and Rose Cafiso, Nicholas and Sam Bernard, Julia and Olivia Bernard, and Brandon and Alex Therriault; and a great granddaughter, Sophia.
