WILTON — Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident Thursday morning in front of the Big Apple on routes 2 and 4.

Jake Ducharme, 36, of Wilton, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, was attempting to take a left turn into the Big Apple parking lot when a 1999 Ford Contour driven by Earland Walker, 83, of Farmington collided with the rear of his car, Wilton officer Timothy Coombs said.

The impact pushed Walker’s car into the opposite lane and it collided with a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Larry Levesque, 55, of Farmington, he said.

The accident occurred just after 11 a.m.

Walker was taken by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Coombs said.

Levesque was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle as was Sway Ducharme, 35, of Wilton, a passenger in the car driven by Jake Ducharme.

All three had non-life-threatening injuries, Coombs said.

Coombs was assisted by Chief Heidi Wilcox at the scene. Maine Warden Brock Clukey was in the area and was first on the scene and was helping to direct traffic. Wilton Fire-Rescue firefighters were also on the scene doing a variety of tasks including taking care of leaking fluids and picking up debris in the road.

Walker and Levesque had been treated and released from the hospital by 2:45 p.m. Sway Ducharme was still being treated, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Substantial damage was done to all three vehicles and they had to be towed from the scene, Coombs said.
