LEWISTON — The YWCA has a full schedule of swim lessons which are available mornings, afternoons, evenings and Saturday mornings. Registration is available now. Swim lessons will begin the week of Sept. 4. Details of times may be found at www.ywcamaine.org or by calling 795-4050.

Water babies, Puddle Jumpers and Parent & Tot classes are available for children ages 6 months through 35 months. These are water adjustment classes. Parents accompany their child in the water. YWCA staff will help parents select the appropriate class and there are many time slots during the week.

Water Explorers is for children 2 to 6 years who are afraid of being in the water and helps them conquer this fear. Parents accompany their child in the water.

Aquatots, Guppies, Jellyfish, Polliwog and Tadpole classes are all designed to help children from ages 3 to 15 learn and develop the skills to become proficient swimmers.

American Red Cross Water Safety classes for stroke development, stroke refinement and fitness are also offered to youth.

Adult lessons are for those 15 and older who have never had swimming lesson or are still working on beginner strokes.

Introduction to Competitive swimming for ages 8-16 years of age is designed for swimmers interested in continuing swimming with an introduction to participating in a team environment. Classes will focus on endurance, stroke development, breathing techniques, flip turns and starts.

Registration is also available now for conditioning swim, which will begin the week of Sept. 4. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The class is for swimmers who are interested in conditioning for competitive type swim teams or training for triathlons. Classes will focus on endurance, stroke development and breathing techniques. For ages 11 and older. Great for high school swim team students looking to prepare for this season’s swim team. This is a coached workout.
