Just before the “up-train” was due to arrive in Lisbon Falls Monday afternoon, a strange appearing man was seen walking on the track coming from the direction of Lisbon. As the man made no effort to get off the track when the train came into view, two employees at the station went to his rescue. The man was wet and made motions with his arms as tho he were trying to swim. He has no coat nor hat; has a mustache and several days’ growth of beard; is about 40 years old; and his face is considerably sunburned. When asked where is his from, he answered partly in French and partly in English, saying first Chicago and later Paris. Dr. Gerrish is attending the stranger and says that his heart action is good and the pulse regular.

Lewiston home-owners were today termed “very fire-prevention conscious” by Lewiston fire Chief Roland G. Dumais. His statement summed up the findings of an inspection of Lewiston homes that has been going on during the past eight weeks. Chief Dumais said that the homes inspected were “not bad at all.” The most common fault noted was “over-fusing.” Private Richard Cadwell, who did the inspections, found that 202 homes were using fuses larger than called for. Of 1,130 homes visited, only 280 violations were found.

Favorable press coverage can go a long way for any city, especially when the press is The New York Times. The Times featured a brief article on Lewiston and its development boom in its real estate section Aug. 16. Since then, local architect Tom Platz, who was featured in the story, has received several inquiries from real estate brokers interested in available land. “I’d say they’re curious, not serious,” Platz said. Roland Miller, Auburn’s director of planning and development, said he’s been contacted by two out-of-state development firms interested in the Twin Cities.
