BRIDGTON — One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-car crash on Kansas Road. Police said the accident may have been caused by excessive speed.

The crash was reported at about 2:15 p.m. By Wednesday night, Bridgton police were not identifying the victim because relatives were being notified and an investigation continued. The person was the lone occupant of the vehicle that crashed.

Kansas Road runs between Long Lake and Route 302, a short distance from Lake Region High School.

Bridgton police said no further information would be released until Thursday. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department was reconstructing the crash site as the investigation continued.
