RAYMOND — An 87-year-old Connecticut man was found dead in Crescent Lake on Thursday morning.

William Prouty or New Hartford, who with his wife owns a summer home on a small island on Crescent Lake, was found in the water by his wife, according to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The release said Prouty left to meet a maintenance worker on the mainland Thursday morning. At 9:25 a.m., after he didn’t return, his wife found him in the water near their dock. Prouty was recovered from the lake and pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is not considered suspicious. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death.
