Coach: Jack Rioux (third year)
Last year’s record: 11-4, lost to Hall-Dale in Western C quarterfinals.
Returning players: Seniors — Chad Snowman (F), Travis Frost (MF), Trevor Newman (MF), Michael Chow (G), Hunter Ross (F), Loren Keim (F); Juniors — Brian Volkernick (FB), Trevor Statham (F), Aighdan Weishar (FB), Sawyer Smith (MF), Jason Baldinelli (FB); Sophomore — Yossapat Chanarune (F).
Key losses: Cody St. Germain (MF), Jeremy Briggs (FB), Josh Turbide (FB), Caleb Turner (G), Garrett Carver (FB).
Promising newcomers: Juniors — Ethan Cantlin (MF), Sam Rock (FB); Sophomore — Cody Dolloff (MF); Freshmen — Colten Woods (MF), Tim White (F), Randy Deroche (FB/G).
Outlook: The Cougars graduated some stellar players on defense and in the midfield that will be tough to replace. Dirigo still returns its top two scorers in Ross and Snowman and have a solid experienced group returning, led by Frost, an all-MVC pick.
Coach’s comment: “Our offense should be able to produce some goals, but we need to find out who is going to step up and anchor our defense. This year in the MVC, we hope to be competitive and fight for a playoff spot just like we have for the last two seasons.” — Coach Jack Rioux
