LEWISTON — Ralph W. Sherman, 88, of Litchfield, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sept. 11, at Marshwood Center.
He was born in Wales, July 25, 1924, the son of Charles and Annie (Stewart) Sherman. He attended Wales schools. In 1945, he married the love of his life, Dorothy (Snyder) on Aug. 23, in West Auburn.
Ralph was a farmer in his childhood and early life, a night watchman at Gammons, a paint manufacturer for Maine Line Paints, a poultry farmer and retired as a school bus driver for the town of Wales, after 13 years in 1990.
He enjoyed being with his family and friends, traveling and tinkering with his John Deere. He was a member of the Litchfield Plains Baptist Church and served as a deacon, usher and choir member. He was also a member of Wales Grange, Pomona Grange and State Grange.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 67 years; three children, number one daughter, Kathryn Chase, Beverly Chase and husband, Daniel and James Sherman and wife, Helen; six grandchildren, Laurie Martin and husband, Norman, Julie Moore and husband, Dale, Sherry Baily and husband, John, Adam Sherman and wife, Katherine, Michael Sherman and Christopher Sherman; eight great-grandchildren, Kristin and Joshua Martin, Sierra and Dylan Moore, Damein, Brock and Ethan Vachon and Hannah Sherman; one brother, Robert Sherman of Wales; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters and his mother and father.
