AUBURN — Sheila Constance Arsenault, 89, of Mexico, was granted her angel wings, dying peacefully and gracefully Sept. 12, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in London, England, Aug. 17, 1923, to the late Rose and Felix Gavaghan. Sheila is a proud survivor of World War II, where as a teenager, she survived the London Blitz.

During the war, while working at the 347th Station U.S. Army Hospital, she met the love of her life, Raymond Faucon, a U.S. Army Medic. She was always proud of being a war bride. Following their marriage, Sheila came to the United States, where she worked at various jobs but her most important role was raising her family. She was a founding member of the foreign – born women’s group, The Cosmopolitan Club, where she made

many life-long friends. In December 1997, she received her U.S. citizenship, of which she was very proud.

Sheila enjoyed knitting, sewing and most of all cooking, which she was best known for among people who loved her. She most cherished and took pride in her traditional family gatherings. She’ll forever be remembered for her nonjudgemental and accepting ways and willingness to help anyone.

She will be sadly missed by her four surviving children, son, Barry Faucon and his companion, Fran Vargas, of Roxbury Pond, son, Daniel Faucon of Mexico, daughter, Kerry Cormier of Mexico and son, Kevin Cormier and his wife, Susan, of Rumford; grandchildren, Heather Cormier of San Diego, Calif., whom she raised, Nicole Vincent of Franklin, Tenn., Erica Inman and her husband, Brian, of Albany Township, Ryan Cormier of Biddeford and Adam Cormier and his companion Alicia Gagnon, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her brother, Philip; and former spouses, Medee Cormier and Wilfred Arsenault.

The family would like to thank Vicki Touchette of Rumford for her devoted attention over the last few years, Dr. Jeffrey Rosenblatt of Maine Cardiology Associates in Portland, and the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House of Auburn for their wonderful care and compassion for Sheila and her family.
