MEXICO — The Women’s Fellowship of the Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (the “Green Church”) held its first meeting of the fall on Sept. 4, following a harvest supper at Esther Cooper’s home in Sumner. The next meeting of the group will be in the church dining room at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, and it will continue to meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Sunday School classes for children have resumed and are held at 10 a.m. on Sundays, allowing their parents to attend the worship service, which is at the same time. Adult Bible study will meet on Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m., beginning on Sept. 18. The publication “The Upper Room” is used as a resource by the adults.
The choir, which recessed for the summer months, is now having rehearsals on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. in the church’s Conference Room. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome.
On Sunday, Sept. 23, a Council meeting will be held in the church dining room. This will follow the morning worship service and a potluck lunch. Officers will give status reports and representatives from committees of the church will report on activities. All parish members are invited to attend.
The church will host the Oxford-Union Association’s fall meeting on Oct. 21, which will include a formal Celebration of Call for the church’s pastor, Izzie Radford-Nash. She received a call from the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC, to serve as its settled pastor last fall and arrived to fill that position in November 2011.
The committee for the annual Christmas fair will soon meet to begin planning for the fair to be held on Saturday, Nov. 3.
