“This is what I have dreamed of for years,” was the enthusiastic remark of Lieut. Col. John J. Dooley, chief range officer of the Maine State Shoot of the National Guard which begins Tuesday morning at the range in Auburn. For the first time in the history of the National Guard of Maine, a military encampment was in the process of construction and to be held in conjunction with the state shoot. When finished nearly 75 tents will stand on the broad level field at the rear of the firing lines. Enlisted men will try for the first time the new pyramid tents, where they will be housed for the next four days.

The Lewiston Post Office Department’s new mailbox, which has been in experimental public use over two weeks now, has worked out very well, Lewiston Postmaster Roger Albert reported today. Albert said that the puvlic has been cooperating by using the box properly, “and we appreciate it very much,” he said. The new box, which is located at the corner of Chestnut and Lisbon St., will, if the letters are inserted properly, result in the mail being neatly piled, face up. This saves considerable money by eliminating manual sorting before cancellation. The new mailbox is the result of an idea by Lewiston postman Gerald Poulin of 312 Webster St.
