WINTHROP — Police are searching for a 33-year-old man who was reported missing Saturday but spotted at a Farmington convenience store the same day.

Joshua Dutch of Winthrop was reported missing by his girlfriend, prompting a pair of weekend searches that involved several police agencies.

After news about the disappearance ran in the media on Sunday, an off-duty Franklin County Sheriff’s Department corporal notified Winthrop police that he believed he had seen Dutch in Farmington on Saturday afternoon.

Through further investigation by Winthrop police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, video of Dutch was found at a Farmington convenience store. Police said the missing man’s girlfriend confirmed it was him.

Winthrop police ask that the public still contact their local law enforcement agency if they have seen Dutch or have any further information about him. The reason for the continued concern, police say, is based on his personal effects being left at his home, and a note apparently left by him indicating he is a danger to himself.

Police also advised that anyone who spots Dutch should not approach him on their own.

Over the weekend, police and fire officials used dogs in a search for Dutch in the area of his home on Stanley Road. No leads were uncovered in the searches, police said.

Dutch is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He has brown eyes, a mustache and brown hair, although his head was shaved at the time he was last seen.

The Winthrop police phone number is 207-377-7226
