Wilson Grange Passport Dinner

WILTON — This season’s Wilson Grange Passport Dinner Tour begins with a Harvest Dinner on Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m.

Menu will include baked ham, favorite vegetable sides, yeast rolls, individual pumpkin cheesecakes, fresh pressed cider, coffee and tea. $12 per person.

Medicare options seminar

FARMINGTON — There will be an educational seminar, “Understanding Medicare and Your Options,” from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 6, at the North Dining Hall in the Olsen Student Center at UMF.

The seminar is a must for anyone approaching age 65 and for those who wish to learn more about the Medicare system and the options available. Presenting at the seminar will be Anthony G. Arruda, certified senior advisor, and Sen. Tom Saviello. This seminar is strictly educational, and is free and open to the public. Jay Grange public supper

JAY — A public supper will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the North Jay Grange 10, Route 17.

Community breakfast Oct. 6

KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast is being offered Saturday, Oct. 6, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.

The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person, all you can eat. A discounted rate is available for children.

NEW SHARON — A bargain book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Jim Ditzler Memorial Library.

Paperback books will be 50 cents each or $4 a bag. Hardcover books will be $1 each or $8 a bag.

Audio books on cassette, VHS movies and puzzles will be 25 cents each or 5 for $1. There will also be some free items.

Ghost Train on Oct. 6

PHILLIPS — A Ghost Train ride will take place at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Sandy River and Rangeley Railroad.

Turkey supper is Oct. 6

RANGELEY — On Oct. 6, the Rangeley Congregational Church Mission Board will again offer their much-anticipated, never-duplicated public turkey supper at The Barn on High Street. Meal will be served from 5 p.m. until sold out.

Price will be $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The menus will include roast turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce and homemade apple crisp with whipped cream.

The sit-down dinner is served home-style. Take out will also be available. All proceeds will be used for the church’s mission work locally, nationwide and worldwide.

Arts, crafts show seeks vendors

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington’s annual Arts and Crafts Show is seeking artists and crafters from across Maine interested in exhibiting their original and creative work at this open-to-the-public show. This year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the UMF Olsen Student Center on South Street.

The UMF Arts and Crafts Show serves as a rich opportunity for vendors to sell their handcrafted, one-of-a-kind art and gift items, clothing, hand-sewn crafts, holiday items and much more. Sky Program at Reich Museum

RANGELEY — The Wilhelm Reich Museum will host another free “Sky Program” on Monday, Oct. 8, at dusk at its Conference Center on Dodge Pond Road.

Participants will view planets, stars and the moon using telescopes and binoculars as well as picking out constellations with the naked eye. Bring binoculars, lawn chairs or a blanket. The program will take place only if the sky is clear.

Contra dance, supper Oct. 13

FARMINGTON — There will be a public supper at the Farmington Grange Hall on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., before the monthly contra dance. The cost for the supper is $7 for ages 12 and up, $3 for ages 5 to 11, under 5 are free.

There will be a family and beginners dance upstairs following the supper, then a regular dance beginning at 8 with separate admission fee. The Farmington Grange Hall is at 124 Bridge St., West Farmington.
