AARP chapter meets Oct. 8
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Oct. 8, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.
Dinner will be served at noon and will include chicken and macaroni and cheese. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, Oct. 5.
The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Final plans must be made for the food drive for Oct. 13 to include members of the Rotary Club and the Intown Cruizahs. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
House, Haley to hold concert
WATERFORD — Pianist Phil House and vocalist Kathy Haley will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the North Waterford Congregational Church.
House is the organist at the First Universalist Church in Auburn and has performed in many towns and cities including Vienna, Austria, and Nashville, Tenn.
Haley was one of the lead singers in the Good and Plenty singing group and is organist and choir director at the Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn. There will be a good will offering and light refreshments will be served after the concert.
The Deacons of the Oxford County United Paris (North Waterford and East Stoneham Churches) will sponsor the program. Proceeds will go to the Deacons Fund to help anyone needing fuel or food assistance during the winter. For more information, call Maxine at 583-2598.
Jones Band to perform
PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at the American Legion Hall, Church Street. The cost is $5.
Supper dance at Legion Hall
LOCKE MILLS — A Supper Dance at the American Legion Hall will take place Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. Music by the Jones Orchestra. Doors open at 4.
A Harvest Supper with offer a choice of either ham or corned beef and pies. Adults $7 for supper and $10 for supper and dance; children $3.

Operation Santa Claus
BUCKFIELD — Applications are available at Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner town offices for Operation Santa Claus. One application must be filled out for each child. Deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Veterans Home meat raffle winner
PARIS — The Maine Veterans’ Homes meat raffle for a hind quarter from Tilton’s Market in Buckfield was won by Alice Rich of South Paris Veterans’ Home.
Library’s Buck a Bag Sale
PARIS — The West Paris Library will hold its annual fall “Buck-a-Bag” sale on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the West Paris Historical Society Building, which is across the street from the library.
The popular sale offers a very large selection of children and adult fiction and nonfiction books as well as movie DVDs. One dollar buys as many books or other items as can fit in a standard plastic grocery bag. Bags will be available at the sale.
Other sale features include coffee, tea and muffins, a raffle, note cards depicting samples of paintings from some of the library’s past art exhibits, handmade bookmarks and West Paris Library tote bags
The book sale is sponsored by the Friends of the West Paris Library. Library hours are Monday and Friday from 1:30 to 6, Wednesday from 1:30 to 7 and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is at 226 Main St. For more information, call 674-2004.
