LEEDS — Roger S. “Toot” Libby, 74, a resident of Leeds, formerly of North Turner, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 30, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Turner, the son of Merle V. and Marion (Atkinson) Libby. Roger was a 1955 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner and continued his education at University of Maine in Farmington.

He worked for several years as a meat cutter for Kirschner meats, and in 1971, he started Brettun’s Variety in Livermore, now owned by the McDonald Family.

Roger had also owned and operated S & R Delivery Service prior to going to work driving school bus for SAD 52. He retired in 2011 after 19 years of service.

On April 27, 1985, in Livermore, he married his wife of 27 years, Emily Halloran of Cambridge, Mass. Roger was a 50-year member of the Nezinscot Masonic Lodge 101 in Turner and also a member of Kora Temple in Lewiston.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to lend a hand to help his family, friends or community. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Libby of Leeds; three daughters, Julie Williams and her husband, Kevin, of Portland, Terri Perry of Oxford and Erin-Margaret Libby Moize and her husband, Mark, of Lexington, S.C.; two sons, Brent Libby of Panama City, Fla., and Joseph Sinclair and his wife, Alexandra, of Lexington, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, Merle V. Libby Jr. of North Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Bryant; his brother-in-law, Bill Bryant; his sister-in-law, Betty Libby; and nephew, Jeff Libby.
