MINOT — A program was given by Martin King on Sept. 11 at the Minot Historical Society’s meeting.
He spoke about the hardships of the soldiers during the Civil War and the many casualties, not only by warfare, but also by disease. He displayed each piece of the uniform and explained how it was used. He also had several firearms and ammunition and explained the use and how he had acquired them.
King is from Stonington, Conn., and has been a member of the Fifth Connecticut Voluntary Infantry American Civil War Skirmish Group for more than 30 years.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the West Minot Grange Hall. There will be a potluck supper with beverages provided. The program will be “Museum LA” presented by Minot resident Rachel Desgrosseilliers.
