FARMINGTON — Harry R. Keach Jr., 77, of Farmington passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, at his home.
He was born July 24, 1935, in Starks, the son of Harry R. and Mary L. (Johnson) Keach Sr. He was educated in the schools of Starks and Fairbanks. As a young man, Harry worked at Knowlton & McKleary Printing, then as a foreman at Forster’s Manufacturing. He then went on to play a key role in the groundwork for the development of Mt. Blue Shopping Center and when the development was completed he became the caretaker of the plaza for many years.
Later when his son, Randy Keach, decided to start Randy Keach Auto Sales, he was there every day helping to build it and he continued helping there until he was no longer able. His greatest enjoyment in life was his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed camping and hunting, being in nature and watching wild life, either on walks or from the house. He also enjoyed collecting model cars and watching NASCAR. He rooted for Rowdy Kyle Busch.
Harry is survived by his wife, Helen, whom he has been with for 37 years; nine children, Randy Keach and his wife, Shirley, of Farmington, Cindy Keach-Qualls and her husband, Scott, of Milan, N.H., Mark Keach and his wife, Marie, of Farmington, David Keach of Alaska, Darcy Tibbetts and her husband, Dan, of Chesterville, Greg Keach and his fiance, Sharon, of Frankfort, Stacy Mattingly and her husband, Brad, of Pheonix, Ariz., Kim Doring and her husband, Jeff, of Brunswick and Nellie Laughead and husband, Scott, of Greenville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Corrine; his brother, Gordon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by five sisters, Marion, Irene, Norma, Lorrine and Maxine; and his brother, Willard.
