AUBURN — Three-time USPRO National Road Champion and youth cycling advocate “Fast” Freddie Rodriguez will highlight a cycling education program for third- through sixth-graders on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. The program will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and is limited to the first 55 registrants. Registration is available at dempseychallenge.org.

In partnership with the Dempsey Challenge and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, the Maine Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Education Program will provide nationally recognized curriculum on bike skills and safety including rules of the road, low-speed handling and hands-on maintenance.

All participants will receive a Specialized helmet and goodie bag. Registrants are encouraged to arrive at 3:30 p.m. for a helmet fitting.

Rodriguez is a Bogota, Colombia native and Berkeley, Calif., resident. He placed third in this year’s Philadelphia International Championship, riding for Team Exergy. He returns to the Dempsey Challenge for the second straight year.
