LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Oct. 4 were: first place, Louise Carey and Steve Agurkis; second place, Monique Nadeau and Sandy Oliver; third place, Bryan Lambert and Roger Labbe; fourth place, Doris Gosselin and Moe Fournier; fifth place, Pauline Quimby and Val Asselin.

LEWISTON — A spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held Friday, Oct. 12, at the YWCA on East Avenue.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. Silent auction runs until 8 p.m.

Tickets are $5. Proceeds will benefit the Lewiston Middle School Blue Demons Football and YWCA.

Cheerleaders plan bottle drive

LEWISTON — Lewiston High School Cheer Boosters will hold a bottle drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13. The LHS cheerleaders will be going door to door throughout the community requesting bottle donations. Bottle donations can also be dropped off at Roopers on Sabattus Street.

American Legion plans tween dance

MECHANIC FALLS — The American Legion Riders Post 150 Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland will sponsor a Tween Dance for grades four through six from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at American Legion Hall.

DAR chapter meets Oct. 13

SABATTUS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Corley Byras.

The Regent will give a brief report of the Fall State Conference on Sept. 29 in Saco including the status of the DAR’s Library Lay Light and the Battle of New Orleans in 1812. Information will be passed on from the State Fall Meeting to chairmen of committees.

Members will be discussing plans for the future and the budget. A silent auction of items brought by the members will help replenish the treasury.

The program will be based on a display of presidential campaign buttons from 1891 through 1996. A general discussion of the items and past campaigns will ensue.

Any lady interested the Daughters of the American Revolution, an organization promoting historic preservation, conservation and education, may call Violet Gerber, Regent, at 375-2698. Help is available for those interested in finding if they may have a qualifying Patriot ancestor.

Girl Scout info meeting

LEEDS — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Leeds Central School.

Girls and adults are invited to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Franco vets to install officers

LEWISTON — The installation of officers for the Franco American War Veterans Inc. Post 31 and Unit 31 will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Lewiston Armory, Central Avenue.

The meeting will be held in the Drill Hall Room. A light luncheon will follow. Bring a snack or dessert to share.
