LEEDS — Murielle I. Melanson, 87, of Quaker Ridge Road, Leeds, died Thursday, Oct. 11, at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 7, 1925, a daughter of the late Alfred Fournier and Florence Boulet.

Murielle married the love of her life, Arthur Melanson, April 30, 1945, in Lewiston, he predeceased her in 1998. She loved staying home and raising her seven children, but later in life she became a CNA and worked for Central Maine Medical Center.

Her greatest treasure and love was spending as much time as possible with her entire family. Murielle loved the holidays with her family and pulled out all the stops for these celebrations, decorating her home elaborately. She enjoyed many summers via poolside with her family as well as vacationing to places across the country. Murielle enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and cooking.

She leaves her children, Rene Melanson and his wife, Kathy, of Leeds, Paul Melanson of Lewiston, Pauline Melanson and her longtime companion, Randy Tibbetts, of Leeds, Rachel McNaughton and her husband, Jim, of Leeds, Michael Melanson and his wife, Diane, of Leeds, Thomas Melanson and his wife, Mary, of Leeds and Mark Melanson of Leeds; two brothers, Arthur and Richard Paradis, both of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Gilberte Bernier and Helene Fournier; and two brothers, Rene and William Fournier.
