I can’t believe the Maine Turnpike Authority is raising tolls in, of all areas, Lewiston-Auburn — the heart of Androscoggin County.
With people struggling to keep up with rising gas prices and higher costs for basic necessities such as food and heat, I agree with state Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello, that tolls shouldn’t be raised and the Legislature should look at the entire toll structure.
It was Snowe-Mello and other Republicans who uncovered the fraud and wasteful spending at the Turnpike Authority and put a stop to it. She opposed the toll increases from the beginning.
Lois Snowe-Mello should be re-elected in November so she can work to overturn the terrible decision to increase tolls on the roads that Maine residents use to commute to work.
