Some feel a “yes” vote on same-sex marriage won’t affect them. Apart from it being against God’s and natural law, it is an attack on First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and religion.
I also think a reason behind the effort is to obtain Social Security benefits, further straining that system.
If passed, those who provide wedding-related business services, and are opposed to same-sex marriages for religious reasons, must provide them or face possible legal action. A Vermont couple was forced to pay thousands in fines and legal fees for refusing to do so
Passage would affect religious groups — just look at the mandate to pay for birth control under Obamacare.
The legal protections they seek do not require a redefinition of marriage.
I will vote “no.”
