MECHANIC FALLS — Singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist Don Campbell , co-based in Portland and Nashville, will give a free concert Saturday, Oct. 20, at Harvest Hill Farms.
Campbell , who has released 11 CDs, writes in many genres: adult contemporary, country, Celtic, bluegrass and rock. He is a singer-songwriter in the tradition of 1970s and ’80s musicians Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor and Paul Simon, but with a contemporary-country twist.
In early November, Campbell will release a double CD set of songs from Fogelberg. Called “Kites To Fly: Celebrating the Music of Dan Fogelberg,” the album will also feature Campbell’s personal favorites.
Campbell averages about 175 performances per year primarily with the New England-based Don Campbell Band and his smaller ensemble, the nationally touring Restless Campbells.
Campbell has opened for Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Randy Travis, Keith Urban, Merle Haggard, George Jones, America, Three Dog Night, Shawn Colvin and Jonathan Edwards.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., with music from 7:45 to about 11 p.m. Harvest Hill Farms is at 125 Pigeon Hill Road (Route 26). Cash bar available.
