I am a 77-year-old widow and do volunteer work, which I really enjoy.
Because of my eyesight, I know the time will come when I will no longer be able to drive. I still want to be able to volunteer, so I called Western Maine Transportation but was told that because I didn’t live on a bus line, I could not get a ride. But if I were on MaineCare there would be no problem.
If I lived on the public bus line, I wouldn’t have called them.
Why is it we are not treated equally? I understand they charge fees and I would gladly pay.
I understand people needing help, but why are they privileged?
