DURHAM — A former local man was flown to a Lewiston hospital Tuesday afternoon following a vehicle rollover on Newell Brook Road.
Allan Kelley, 40, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center shortly after 2 p.m. following the crash.
Investigating officer Androscoggin County Deputy Nate Humphrey said he observed Kelley driving and was going to stop him but by the time he got turned around, Kelley was out of sight. Witnesses told the deputy they had seen Kelley’s car turn onto Newell Brook Road. By the time the deputy arrived on the scene, Kelley’s car had skidded off the right shoulder while going down a hill and rolled onto its side.
Kelley had exited his vehicle and fled on foot. He was found in a field about 20 to 30 feet off the road. He suffered a possible back injury, Humphrey said. Kelley’s 1999 Mercury Sable was damaged beyond repair in the 1:55 p.m. crash. The incident remained under investigation, Humphrey said.
