WINTHROP — Winthrop Lakes Region businesses and organizations will enliven and support the holiday atmosphere in Winthrop through the “Adopt-a-Pole” Program.

The Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce supplies and installs lighted holiday wreaths on poles that businesses and organizations can “adopt” for $50. Each pole that is “adopted” gets a sign to identify the sponsoring business or organization throughout the holiday season.

“Nothing evokes a festive mood on Main Street quite the way lighted outdoor decorations do,” said Chamber President Victoria Christopher. “With the support of businesses and organizations in the community, we will have decorations that are appealing and inviting to residents, shoppers and visitors alike.”

Pole adoption is a way to promote a business or organization and help celebrate the season at the same time. Businesses and organizations receive recognition and demonstrate community support by sponsoring a decorated pole.

Poles are decorated with wreaths and signs by Friday, Nov. 30, and will remain decorated until mid-January. Poles are available for adoption on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested businesses and organizations should sign up as soon as possible.

Participation forms are available for downloading on the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce website—www.winthropchamber.org. For additional information, contact Victoria Christopher at 441-1463 or mywinthrop@gmail.com.
