WILTON — A permit renewal for a cellphone tower on Munson Road comes before the Planning Board at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the town office.
Global Tower Partners LLC, and Northeast Wireless Networks LLC/ATC Realty seek renewal of a building permit for a 190-foot tall tower on property owned by Eileen Caffery at 436 Munson Road, Paul Montague, code enforcement officer, said.
This is the second request for renewal, he said. No action was taken after the permit was granted. They requested a renewal and then did not build.
This time, the applicant indicated AT&T has expressed interest for the site leased from Caffrey. The tower can hold up to six antennas.
There’s no special lighting needed for the tower and the property setbacks are all right. It’s a permitable structure, he said.
Renewals are needed if nothing is done because regulations can change. The only thing different this time is the town now requires a property owner to take the tower down if it’s abandoned or not used.
Montague also requested some information on the necessity of the tower now that there is one east of the Walker Hill Road in Jay.
